Executive Chef and Owner
Executive Chef and Owner Luke Donato's culinary career began at a young age as a Prep Cook at North 44. At 19, Luke met Wanda Beaver of Wanda’s Pie In The Sky who needed help in her Kensington Market cafe; at 21, Luke was managing the cafe and it was during this time that Wanda pushed him to take his passion to the next level by attending The French Culinary Institute in New York City to study.
After graduating top of his class, Luke returned to Toronto and began working at Campagnolo under Craig Harding and assisting with menu development. He eventually moved on to work as Sous Chef at Le Societe and then Ortolan, but returned to Campagnolo as Sous Chef when the restaurant began their week-long service. Here, Luke continued to hone his culinary skills but also learned both the necessary front-of-house and entrepreneurial skills from Craig that would equip him to open Bacchanal.
